Divinely Encounter

In the hustle bustle of our everyday life, we sometimes tend to oversee the signs of HIS existence. I do believe HE shows us different ways and means to reach HIM to always retain our unshakeable faith for HIM. We might at times when surrounded by tough situations in life question his existence but he never snaps the string which binds us to him.

Let me narrate a simple incidence on our recent visit to Dakshinkali temple at Kolkata. It is situated on the banks of Hoogly river and located alongside the Vivekananda bridge. The Garbha Griha houses the deity of goddess Kali, famously known as Bhavataraini. We boarded a ferry from Belur Math to the temple which took us across the river. Reaching the other side we got to know the temple would be closing soon for the afternoon. We quickly deposited our bag and mobiles as nothing is allowed to be taken inside the premises and obviously our shoes. Luckily the queue was short and we rushed inside after the security check.

From the gate which we entered, we could see one of the doors of the temple already closed across the huge courtyard. My mom, cousin and I thought we missed the darshan and started joining our hands right there outside the closed door. But my husband around refusing to give up and luckily someone informed him that as its the closing time only one door is opened from the other side. Shortly we heard him screaming to join him from that side of the temple.

Rushing through the barricades to the almost closing doors of the temple we made our way to the garba griha. It was as if the goddess was waiting so that we could get a glimpse of her divinity. And then the security guard pushed us outside to close the shrine doors. My cousin who didnt dare to make her way through the crowd could also get the blessings from the tower right in front of the temple. We were finally at peace by the visit and during our return ferry ride couldn't help thinking about all that happened ....
